I never thought I would get emotional writing a review for realtors, but here I am. I was faced with the gargantuan task of selling my mom’s house. This was a massive job for several reasons: the house itself was big, and in very bad condition; my emotions surrounding the situation were very high; the house was largely hoarded out; and there was no small amount of time pressure. I spent several months with a team of people cleaning, going through every item in the house, selling items, and prepping the house to even get to a point where I could get a realtor involved.

I called Denise Delaney, who I have known in other capacities for 20 years, to ask if she could help. To my surprise, this turned out to be her first listing. Do not let this fool you; I got not only the absolute highest and best level of service, but every single beat of the more-than-yearlong process was flawless. She is an old soul in the world of real estate. She brought on her mentor, Barbara LaVey, and from the very first day, I felt like I was on the right path forward. They made an incredible team, each contributing lots of hard work, kindness, and professionalism. Denise brought her outstanding creativity to the sale process, open houses, and even solutions for what to do with the property. Over the next year and change, I never doubted for a second that I was in capable hands or genuinely cared for. I’m a solo practitioner attorney who works in very tough and sensitive legal areas, and so I’m very used to going above and beyond for clients, but I never expect others to do the same for me. Boy, was I wrong.

I cannot underscore the extent to which Denise went above and beyond at every step of the process. From helping me manage a litany of contractors, to offering personal support, to letting people into the property, to finding the right people to work on a specific project, to letting me cry when times were tough, they were required to do none of these things but just continually took on more and more. This was all pre-sale, and some of these things had little impact on the eventual sale, but nevertheless needed to get done. 

When it finally came time to list the property for sale, Denise shined even brighter. By this point, I trusted her so completely, and she was so intimately familiar with the house, that I essentially just handed the property off to her. We eventually decided to leave portions of the property incomplete, which presented challenges for staging and sales. Nevertheless, she naturally won “best of tour” with the initial showing for the whole county. Every open house was a bit of a spectacle, in the very best possible way. When offers started coming in, they worked magic with the potential buyers. At the end, we ended up selling to a buyer who was the absolute best fit—and presented the highest bid. This was entirely due to the work put in by Denise and Barbara. 

I will forever be grateful to Denise for her extraordinary representation of me in this real estate sale.
